From bilateral meetings at the SCO in China, new strategic partnerships in Africa, and historic firsts in women-led missions, to multilateral defence exercises across Mongolia, France, and the Indian Ocean, India reaffirmed its growing stature as a responsible security partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Multilateral Engagements: SCO, QUAD, and Global Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCO Defence Ministers\u2019 Meeting \u2013 Qingdao, China<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh used the SCO platform to call for zero tolerance on terrorism, highlighting&nbsp;<em>Operation Sindoor<\/em>&nbsp;as India&#8217;s resolute response to cross-border terror. He urged united action against states that sponsor terrorism and emphasised India\u2019s commitment to multilateral security and regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Bilateral Meetings on Sidelines:<\/strong><ul><li><strong>China<\/strong>: Called for a structured roadmap for permanent peace and border demarcation.<\/li><li><strong>Russia<\/strong>: Discussed expediting S-400 supplies, Su-30 MKI upgrades, and critical hardware.<\/li><li><strong>Belarus, Tajikistan &amp; Kazakhstan<\/strong>: Agreed on deeper military cooperation and training exchanges.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>QUAD \u2018At Sea Observer Mission\u2019 Launched<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India joined Japan, the U.S., and Australia in the first-ever QUAD coast guard observer mission aboard the USCGC Stratton. This cross-embarkation aims to build joint readiness and promote a Free, Open, and Inclusive Indo-Pacific, reinforcing India\u2019s SAGAR and IPOI vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bilateral Defence Diplomacy: Strengthening Regional and Continental Ties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2013Australia Defence Talks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australian Deputy PM &amp; Defence Minister Mr. Richard Marles visited Delhi. Both sides reaffirmed their stance against terrorism and agreed to enhance defence industry collaboration and maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2013Sri Lanka Military Cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lt Gen BKGM Rodrigo, visited India. Besides high-level meetings, he reviewed the IMA Passing Out Parade\u2014marking a nostalgic return to his alma mater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2013South Africa JDC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Defence Secretary led the Indian delegation at the 9th Joint Defence Committee meeting in Johannesburg. Two agreements on submarine cooperation were exchanged, spotlighting India\u2019s growing defence manufacturing prowess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2013Kenya Commemorative Pillar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth and Kenya\u2019s Defence Minister unveiled the India\u2013Africa Commemorative Pillar in Taita Taveta, honouring Indian and African WWI soldiers. The visit reinforced growing strategic ties in East Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2013Madagascar Defence Outreach<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raksha Rajya Mantri represented India at Madagascar\u2019s 65th Independence Day. Bilateral discussions focused on maritime security and capacity building, aligning with India\u2019s MAHASAGAR vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>COAS Visit to Bhutan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Bhutan to meet the King and RBA leadership. The visit reaffirmed India\u2019s time-tested partnership and continued defence cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maritime Diplomacy: Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>INS Teg \u2013 Mauritius Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INS Teg, on deployment in the South West Indian Ocean, conducted joint EEZ surveillance with Mauritius Coast Guard, hosted IDY celebrations, and supported training and technical assistance \u2014 reinforcing Indo-Mauritian maritime ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>INS Teg \u2013 Seychelles Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the same deployment, INS Teg reached Port Victoria for National Day celebrations and bilateral engagements. Joint EEZ surveillance with Seychelles Coast Guard followed, demonstrating India\u2019s role as a net security provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indian Navy Hosts IONS Maritime Security Meet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Working Group on Maritime Security convened in New Delhi with participation from 13 nations. Key focus: strengthening regional Maritime Domain Awareness and cooperative security frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>INS Tamal to be Commissioned in Russia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s newest stealth frigate\u00a0<em>INS Tamal<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 the last of the Krivak-class sourced from Russia \u2014 will be commissioned on July 1 in Kaliningrad. Built with 26% Indian components including BrahMos, it marks a transition to\u00a0<em>Aatmanirbhar<\/em>\u00a0naval strength. This is possibly the last warship to be acquired from a foreign country.  The rest of the 62 ships and 1 submarine are all being built in Indian Shipyards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International Joint Military Exercises<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exercise KHAAN QUEST \u2013 Mongolia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 40-member Indian Army contingent, including women officers, is participating in the 22nd Khaan Quest. The peacekeeping exercise under UN Charter Chapter VII aims to enhance interoperability in joint tactical operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT \u2013 Mongolia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ARUNACHAL SCOUTS participated in the 17th edition of this India\u2013Mongolia bilateral exercise. Defence Secretary attended the closing ceremony, affirming India&#8217;s regional peacekeeping commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exercise SHAKTI \u2013 India\u2013France<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 90-member contingent from the Jammu &amp; Kashmir Rifles departed for France for&nbsp;<em>Exercise SHAKTI-VIII<\/em>, focusing on semi-urban counter-terror operations. The biennial drill strengthens Indo-French strategic trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Women-Led Military Milestones: All-Women Tri-Services Sailing Expedition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An 11-woman crew from the Army, Navy, and Air Force returned from a historic 1,800-nautical-mile voyage to Seychelles aboard&nbsp;<em>Triveni<\/em>. The mission showcased operational synergy, maritime diplomacy, and&nbsp;<em>Nari Shakti<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Women Officers on QUAD Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women officers from the Indian Coast Guard joined their QUAD counterparts in the first&nbsp;<em>At Sea Observer Mission<\/em>, highlighting India\u2019s gender-inclusive leadership in international maritime cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>India\u2019s Strategic Messaging<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Operation Sindoor and Counterterrorism Messaging<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raksha Mantri made it clear \u2014 \u201cEpicentres of terrorism are no longer safe.\u201d At multiple forums, including SCO and bilateral meetings, India justified&nbsp;<em>Operation Sindoor<\/em>&nbsp;post the Pahalgam attack, reasserting its right to self-defence under international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conclusion: A Global Defence Footprint Expanding with Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s international defence calendar in June 2025 was not just busy \u2014 it was bold, diversified, and strategic.
